ANNOUNCEMENT OF JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT TO THE UNITED STATES FEDERAL DISTRICT COURT OF THE EASTERN DISTRICT OF WASHINGTON As a result of the recently announced retirement of Judge Fred Van Sickle, there exists a vacancy on the Federal bench in the Eastern District of Washington. The White House, working in conjunction with the two U.S. Senators and the Congressional representatives representing Eastern Washington have agreed on a committee process to screen and interview candidates and to make recommendations to the two U.S. Senators and the White House. The committee has 6 members appointed by the two U.S. Senators and the Congressional representatives from the Fourth and Fifth Congressional Districts. If you are interested in applying for consideration for appointment to this position, you will be asked to provide this Committee with personal background and professional information in the form of responses to a questionnaire. After review of responses to these questionnaires, the Committee will determine who it will interview. The deadline for completing the questionnaire and providing the required information is November 14, 2008. | The Federal Bar Association is currently accepting applications for two openings for Lawyer Representatives for the Ninth Circuit. Each lawyer representative serves a three-year term and represents the Eastern District of Washington at the annual Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference. Applications should be submitted no later than Friday, October 21, 2005. Applications will be screened and appointments to the position will be made by the Judges of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington.
